Hi everyone! Sharing an update on my kin domain and the future of kin domain settlements in USA. Here is my story. For two years I searched for land. Inspired by Anastasia, I found land in my Motherland USA in the state of WISeCONSciousIN! I love it here so much! Absolutely beautiful country with many rivers, lakes, rocks and rolling terrain. With four beautiful seasons to enjoy and the absolute glory to be found in the winter! Similar to Siberia
To find land, I created 13 specific criteria and the land that I purchased matched all 13. How is that possible you ask? Intention. Vision. Action. All with a low level of importance. The land appeared quite literally in an instant, in the dead of winter on a minus 10 degree day when I had only an hour to walk it and feel the energy. I bought it the next day.
Sharing my story so others know it is possible. Two years of preparing with focused intention was required with massive amounts of action. 5 trips from Florida to MN, WI, MI walking on dozens of properties in all kinds of weather. Hundreds of hours of research, mostly into land ordinances by county to determine if subdividing large parcels of land is even possible along with several other zoning requirements. Most counties do not allow subdividing into 2.5 acre lots, the recommended size for a kin domain.
I found only a few potential counties that would work and only one that fit my criteria, Rusk County WI, one of the poorest counties in the state with some of the most beautiful land in the state that is still reasonably priced.
To finance my land purchase, I started a farm, on paper. Wrote a business plan and submitted all the paperwork to Farm Credit for a loan. They financed 85% of the purchase for just land, no house included. So buying raw land is totally doable if you have income and good credit and are willing to become a small scale farmer (every kin domain is also a small farm) so now you have a way to finance your land purchase!!
In my case, I bought 68 acres and plan to subdivide to create kin domain size parcels for RCR to purchase. It may take me a year or maybe more as the process with the county and land development takes time and money. My intention is to offer kin domain sized parcels for sale at reasonable prices for land that is surveyed, with easy access and a cleared buildable area to get started.
For the land I just purchased, I had to build an access road so instead of a narrow driveway just for myself, I built a community sized road capable of two way traffic so everyone will have easy access to their kin domain and also for guests who visit.
To get started living permanently on the land, which is an essential part of a successful community, I custom built a tiny house on wheels out of a used cargo trailer. This is a project anyone with basic building skills and a willingness to learn can do. YouTube has all the how to videos available for free.
Thankfully, my land came with electric power on site and a well so it was much easier to park my tiny home here from day one and get started. It took me three months to build a road and now I am preparing for winter and creating site mapping for land development.
The farm is getting started with a tree nursery. We held our first farm workshop last Sunday with 5 participants. We built air prune beds to plant tree seeds for living fences and syntropic agroforestry farming. We will be growing thousands of trees from seed so those who buy land here will have access to trees available to plant, including Siberian Cedar Trees (known in USA as Siberian Pine, Pinus sibirica).
