A History for Children (and all of us)
Hello, all!
I am currently reading the Ringing Cedars series for the first time, and am inspired. I believe it is in “The Book of Kin” where Vladimir brings his 5 year old son a history book, and a little while later Anastasia says, “Everybody today should learn their true history.” She explains, in detail, a three image sequence for a history book for children. Does anyone know if such a book has been made available to the public?Even if only in Russian? I am no artist myself, but certainly will do my best to render what she describes for use with my own children (2 and 5) if no such picture book yet exists.

Amanda, I LOVE that you are bringing this up! Just the other night, I was thinking about possibly writing a children’s book version of the Anastasia books. I’m a decent writer but a lousy artist, so I would need to work with a skilled illustrator. But I think there is a definite use for that! Making Anastasia‘s words digestible for little ones and with absolutely beautiful and inspiring imagery. Nothing of this sort exists yet, but who’s to say that it will be that way for long?

Oh, please write a children’s book! And let us know about it. I am sure Gabriel would support it. He cares deeply about educating youth, it seems. Right now I am sharing short excerpts that pique my interest and are appropriate to share with a 5 year old. I am also showing my daughter images of Shetinin’s school to inspire her own image of what her education may look like – we are homeschooling on our small farm/homestead. Much love.

This is maybe the image you were looking for. I saw it on one of the Russian forums a few years back. I think people have made different ones like this, it can’t be the only one.

Thank you Matthew. Yes, that is the sequence, thank you It is like that but I am imagining an illustrated, hand-drawn version, geared toward use with children.
