I have always loved being outdoors in the natural world. In the 90's I was introduced to native American spirituality thru Tom Brown's books which talk about our connection to the natural world and the oneness of all life. The great spirit is defined as the spirit that runs thru all things. This spirituality is very simular to what Anastasia describes in her books. When Tom Brown describes connecting to the world of spirit he says this is done thru feelings, intuitions, dreams, visions and signs. He describes a type of envisioning very simular to what Anastasia describes to manifest and cocreate. A type of envisioning that is very detailed where you feel you are actually living your dream. He also talks about having a pure mind free of ego judgements and fear. This is necessary to attract the higher level energies rather than the forces of darkness. True connection and understanding can only be realised thru the heart via unconditional love.I began learning primitive living skills. I began identifying wild plants and learning their uses, gardening, natural hide tanning and working with natural materials to create shelters and clothing. In 1999 I moved from Maryland to the rocky mountains of Idaho to spend time in the wilderness. I live most of the time now in the backcountry near McCall with my wolf husky.Anastasia's books which I started reading a few months ago have given me renewed hope that humans can once again live in harmony with the natural world and rediscover their pristine origins.I have had difficulty connecting to other people and have been very alone. I have been wanting to connect with others who have the best interests of all and the natural world at heart.I moved to Idaho in 1999 because I wanted to experience nature and learn to live in harmony with the natural world. When I began learning about native American spirituality over thirty years ago it changed my life from one of darkness and fear about life and death. Learning about our connection to the natural world and the eternity of our spiritual being began lifting me out of this fear and motivated me to learn primitive living skills to learn to live in harmony with the natural world. It is a harsh environment with long winters 6 months of snow. I dont have any land here. I have never been able to afford it. I camp on forest service land and spend most of my time there year round. I live in a teepee with a woodstove in the winter . In the summer I backpack up to the alpine lakes. I was hoping to be able to forage and hunt for all my food but it was a lot harder than I thought. I've learned a lot about plants but I've never been able to gather enough to thrive on them only. Hunting is difficult for me as I don't like guns and a bow takes a lot more skill.
I started reading the RC books in 2021 after I broke my ankle while backpacking and they were recommended to me. I resonated with them right away. They filled me with renewed hope. I had almost given up seeing change in the world at least in my lifetime. I believed many of the predictions of cataclysm. Even the native peoples predicted a time of great hardship where only the children of the earth would survive. The children of the Earth were those who had learned to live in harmony with it. Anastasia said we have crossed the dark forces window of time and there will be no cataclysm this cycle. This filled me with much relief and joy.
I realized we didn't start out as hunter/gatherers but as gardeners and caretakers of this earth. we need to rejuvenate the soil with permaculture practices, diversified plants and planting without plowing. I started trying to grow some things here after reading the books but the soil here is rocky sandy and needs a lot of work. Lack of rainfall and fires have been a problem this summer. I've had some plants come up only to dry up or be eaten. Maybe some will make it.
I know other people have been successful in this environment. Greenhouses are necessary. I believe there is a place in Colorado at 8000 feet with a beautifully designed permaculture space and heated greenhouses. There are ringing cedars readers who have homesteads in Northern Idaho.
I was attracted to these big mountains with lots of snow and alpine lakes. Maybe I'm a bit of an extremist. It's a harsh environment but the winters here make me feel safer here in a way. I prefer a colder environment to a hotter one. Maybe it's my downfall but it is awesomely beautiful here.
I've really struggled here. I been naturally tanning deerhides and making moccasins and other clothing out of them for over 20 years. I thought I could make enough money for food and supplies but it was never enough.
In spite of the hardships I prefer to live outside in the forest than in town with all the traffic, construction and maintenance noise surrounded by four walls, blasted with emfs, isolated from the natural world.
I think I could use a little help though as it's difficult to do everything alone. I've never really been able to connect with anyone here who I resonated with and had my best interests at heart. I've talked with various people .
I've talked with various people here I thought the RC books would resonate with and was surprised to find they did not. Maybe I didn't use the right words. I did talk to one woman for which they did but it turns out she has wanderlust and the desire to travel and can't picture ever having kids or settling down. She thinks now maybe the books aren't for her but I believe there are other people in RC community with the desire to travel and there must be a place for them as well. In ancient times there were traveling bards and wisemen.
Maybe I need to be somewhere else to find community. I've had thoughts about Canada the last few years. My Dad is originally from British Columbia and they have mountains and lakes there. I need someone to travel with as I don't drive, never have and it would be better than traveling alone.
