I recently taught a PDC (permaculture design course) class on Land Tenure and the book we used as a guide for the class suggested a community have at least 80% common ownership and the rest be for tiny homes and co-housing type arrangements. After having recently read all 10 of the RCS, I realized this is backwards and that there should be less than 20% common area. I told the class this and also recommended we change the aim of our permaculture organization that put on the PDC to promoting minimum hectare properties for households instead of promoting eco-villages, which they agreed.

Each couple able to bear children needs AT LEAST one hectare. That is the MINIMUM that Anastasia recommends. She mentions 5 acres a couple of times, so I think there is some ideal around that size that will allow for possible future division for a child’s hectare with their spouse. I also think that the extra land will be useful to trade and barter surplus produce.

In my experience, many older people who feel past their childbearing years do not even dare to wish for land of this size. It’s best for us to encourage younger people, even up into “middle age”, to read the RCS and work on finding their land to create a Space of Love.

Hi, Lillian –

I did not interpret Anastasia to say that sex without procreation is a “sin”. That sounds like an interpretation based on western puritanical thought. I think it will become more clear to you as you continue reading. Each book builds on the previous ones in the series of ten, so you have some juicy stuff coming up! The next two – The Space of Love and Co-creation – will expand on the image so that it will be more clear.

What is so clearly valuable to Anastasia is for a person, and at some point a couple, to have land of their own to create a mini-paradise of love and life, then to co-create a new being or beings into that space who will be born there, live there, and be buried there. This is in stark contrast to the way we have been mis-taught, that sex is the main goal in relationship. With this teaching, having money to buy sexy clothes, flashy cars, aesthetically pleasing but non-productive houses and yards, et cetera, are the means to achieve the goal of possessing the real prize – a sexy body with which to express your mental fantasies.

This explains why homosexuality becomes more prevalent in urban societies. If the goal ends with possessing a fantastic body, there is no need for that body to be of the opposite sex, because the goal is short-sighted in that it does not include having a productive legacy land for you and your progeny to enjoy in perpetuity.

This is similar to the quandary presented by this discussion:

Interestingly, the above article indicates that Tantra arose in the Vedic region of Asia, sharing the same origin as the Vedruss culture. Tantra seems to have been a return by the people to their roots in the face of dogmatic teachings by the monks and nuns.

Mariel, what a beautiful call for love you wrote here. I understand this longing of the soul, having felt it myself many times. I agree that sharing a kin’s domain could certainly be something to deepen a couples love, making the connection stronger and stronger through time and eternity.

I only recently completed reading the Ringing Cedars series – all 10 books in only a month. I own a small property here in central Florida that I am turning into a “Yarden of Eatin'”, but now I am saving up to buy a one hectare or larger piece of land. Since I have land development and community-building experience, maybe I could just find an investor and develop a kin’s domain settlement somewhere I would want to live, in exchange for one parcel.

I also do not have any children, at least none that I know of for sure or that I raised. I am quite certain I helped a mother get pregnant with her second baby, but she apparently only wanted me to be a sperm donor, not to be the father. At age 28, that was fine with me as I was not ready to be a father. After all these years, I feel will be ready soon, when the time and the Space of Love is right.

Anyway, your sincerity struck a chord with me so I wanted to respond.
