Israel Camel camp desert training

I traveled the world mainly to see my friend in Israel 2018-19 with my cat.

After I successfully met my friend in Israel, I tried visiting a small desert town “Mitzpe Ramon”.

Why? A guy who I met in Bethlehem by chance and works as a tour guide told me for the first time about the town as “Beautiful town ever. You should visit there. Not many knows about the town”. 

At this moment, I was looking for a place to stay as my home domain, so a small town in the middle of the desert sounded attractive for me and I soon came to the town.

The town is located next to a huge crater which looks similar? to the one in the US.

Fortunately I’ve saved the movie on YouTube as below.

They, I mean human beings and wild Gazels, lived in very close to each other but keeping a good distance. People in the town looked as paying attention not to spoil Gazels by feeding them easily. Gazels’ side looked they needed the town as their comfortable environment with shade of trees and greeneries which is difficult to find the natural ones in the desert.

It showed me positive possibilities of human beings to create better conditions which enables the lives to live more alive in a difficult climate and environment.

 As you can see a little on the movies, Israeli desert is rather rocky and the majority of the trees are very short, supposed to be whose size is the best to survive in the ultimate dryness. There are taller ones, but they only grow in certain narrow spots as a bush.

According to the Bedwins; local native people in the desert, there’s good herbs in the desert to make the body healthy with very good smell good to drink adding it into the tea , or ones which works just the same as soaps when they’re scrub on the hand with water raises the bubble. They showed those two types of herbs in front of me during the desert camel tour. Mixing and scrubbing them making a fresh herb smell float in the air they said “desert soap!”.

Later, I decided to stay with them for couple of months and of course I tried the “desert soap” when I took shower. As you can imagine, it was the best shower ever!

And here, I remember the words in the book of Anastasia.

“Not to let us in trouble to find foods, God has prepared us many things”

In the desert it was not an exception. 

Bedwins who traditionally have lived in the desert has great knowledge about it.

But finding natural eatable plants were still not very easy in the desert, it’s clear that the animals have taken great part to support their lives for many centuries.

Therefore in some cases, their attitude against animals were the one against livestock’s, not against friends who has equal souls and lives. 

It made me a little sad at the moment, but later in Indonesia when I saw western tourists who’s job are farm keepers I noticed it’s not only bedwins but the same to people in developed countries who grow animals only as food for them. Japan or any other countries also, I think. 

On the other hand, later in Morocco, I got to know a local guy who had very good friendship with his camel. 

It always depends. 

How much love we are open to.

The state of the real life is just the reflection of the state of love at the moment.

We can create a relationship with love with any animals as Anastasia has showed us in the books. But there’s steps.

When the state of the real life in front of us is not the ideal one, it means there’s a little more something that we should aware of in our minds. Or, simply we were invited to the place to make a change because everybody’s soul needed progress. 

For example, if my working place has some kind of violence, I have to consider about if I, myself, take any violence against myself. Because inside and outside of us is the same. Then later if I had to leave the job, it will let the one who engaged in violence notice about what was wrong. But the point is, it happens because both of us needed the progress in the soul.

Especially when somebody is caught in a situation of war or something very painful, we naturally take that the attacking side as evil, but the thing is that the somebody might have been on the side to attack people in the past life and now it is the somebody’s turn to receive what they have done in the past. Without accepting it, there’s no way to understand the both side’s reason. 

When we trapped in focusing only on the real phenomenon at the moment, what we should notice or learn from the situation comes only later.

When I stayed in the desert, I was not yet sure about this point…

Here, I’d like to write a few more short episodes with the camels.

When camels didn’t have to work in the tour, bedwins tied camel’s front legs by a rope to keep legs within a distance of 80cm or so not to let them walk fast far away nor get lost. Camels walk quite fast! Their motion looks slow for us but that’s mainly because their size are very big and their legs are very long. When I walked beside them taking walk to feed them green tree leaves, I always half ran.

One day when a camel finished his job of the day and was going to had his leg tied, one of his legs was very away and a bedwin man was struggling. I looked up the camel and asked, 

“Would you step your leggy a little bit towards the other one?”

in the same way as I talk to my dogs and cats in my mother language.

Then what happened, he right away took one step closer to the other leg in a good position to make a tie. The bedwin guy looked a little surprised but soon continued his tie job as nothing special happened. I was also surprised and I stood there for a while watching the camel and the bedwin guy.

The camel listened to my words!

Maybe…!

It was such a quiet and natural moment just as same as when I asked my friend to pass me a mug cup.

I felt and found that the camels were waiting until anybody would talk to them fairly as a friend.

I started to talk to camels and a few of them looked happier than before. But several days later at night, I found a female camel (her face was easy to remember for me even at night) and one more were putting their heads into the carbon box of vegetables in the camp tent, eating onions. Of course I waved my arms and let them go back. Female camels were not tied at night because they’re usually very obedient and no need to. 

To avoid such an accident, bedwins were very strict against camels, I heard later. And also as “Such a thing never happened before”.

Well, anyway I felt a little bit sorry on this point because it’s me who tried to show friendship to the camels maybe for the first time. The relationship between camels and humans looked as a little changed but to make it in a good way, I needed more time.

As a result my stay ended in short period and I’m not sure if it was good for them or not. I hope the goodness.

However it let me experience and learn about such lot.

As my small suvenior to the camels, I made a song for them. Usually they come to certain place at night and have their rope on their leg tied to the ground and sleep. The song was to tell them

“The night has come, come to your bed and have a sweet dream”

This song consist of only one lyric “Layla” which means “night” in Arabic.
